According to information from “Sky”, Borussia Mönchengladbach’s midfielder Rocco Reitz has played his way into the notebooks of top international clubs. Inter Milan and Brighton & Hove Albion are therefore interested in signing the 22-year-old, who became a shooting star on the Lower Rhine last season. A possible transfer will also depend on the professional’s exit clause, about which there is different information.

Both the TV station and “Sport Bild” reported that Reitz could leave the Foals early in 2026, despite a contract that runs until 2028, if an interested club pulls the clause enshrined in the working paper. While “Sky” puts this at around 20 million euros, the magazine reported a sum “in the lower double-digit million range” on Wednesday. The latter would be closer to its market value. Reitz increased this to 10 million euros around a year ago and has held it ever since. In the current season, the right-footer played 13 times in the Bundesliga and was in coach Gerardo Seoane’s starting line-up nine times. He has not yet managed to contribute to a goal.
Nevertheless, the coach recently confirmed with regard to his protégé, who contributed nine scorers in 34 games last season: “He totally deserves his place because he always has a lot of input into our game.”
What Gladbach sports director Virkus says about Reitz
Depending on how Reitz’s performance and market value develop, Borussia could consider an official offer from Italy or England and would have to weigh up a transfer. As of now, a change to the eleventh-placed team is not being considered. Reitz also ruled out a short-term farewell in the winter, the TV station said. Manchester City had also been said to be interested in Reitz in recent weeks, and “Sport Bild” also named the Skyblues.
Gladbach’s sports director Roland Virkus recently put a stop to the transfer rumors: “Our goal is of course not to give away a top player, that’s very clear. After all, we are currently in the process of stabilizing ourselves and getting better step by step. It’s true that there are desires, that’s completely normal when you perform well. But we are in a very comfortable situation.” The 58-year-old added with regard to Reitz: “Rocco represents the path that this club wants to take, which we also neglected a bit before. He can become one of the faces of the whole club!”
