Montreal Canadiens Patrick Laine was in a joking mood before the game against his former club the Winnipeg Jets.

Laine threw a good-natured jab at the Jets’ star goaltender to Connor Hellebuyck and the Danish striker To Nikolaj Ehlerswith whom the Finn befriended while playing for the Jets.

– I guess he hasn’t played the previous times I’ve been here, Laine said about Hellebuyck.

– He has had Patty’s flu, which is understandable.

Patty is Laine’s nickname in North America.

Ehlers is sidelined for the Canadiens game with a lower body injury, but Laine joked that he brought the Dane a gift to cheer him up.

– I brought him a shirt with my autograph. He asked for it, Laine said.

The Jets booked Laine in 2016 as the second player in the draft. The Finn played for the Jets until January 2021. At that time, he was traded to the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Laine scored 250 power points in the 306 regular season games he played for the Jets.

In Winnipeg, in front of the media, Laine also gave relevant praise about his time in the city and in the club.
