Gerard started as chairman of the Midwinter Festival in 2010 and was now forced to take a step back. “It’s no longer possible due to physical complaints,” says his wife Gretha.
Successors wanted
At least, not in the way Gerard likes. Everything has to be in order down to the last detail. This becomes apparent on Saturday morning, when NH follows him for a while. Gerard will certainly remain associated with the Midwinter Festival, but in a different role.
The board is now looking for a successor for his position, but that will not be easy, Gerard thinks. “You must have a lot of time,” he laughs. “But fellow villagers should not think that they cannot do it, because we will continue to help as much as possible.”
