Trieste, 12 December. (askanews) – The contemporary, nature and one of the most famous places in Italy, the Miramare Castle in Trieste, whose museum hosts a collective exhibition that investigates the relationship between today’s artists and the environment, in broader meaning of the term. But how does this project fit into the dimension of the castle?
«It is part of a path – Andreina Contessa, director of the Historical Museum and Park of Miramare Castle, Regional Directorate of National Museums of Friuli Venezia Giulia, explained to askanews – which has been done in recent years to relate to the park, to the garden of Miramare as if it were a work of art. On the other hand there is a bit of a dream, the presumption of wanting to speak and dialogue with today’s contemporary art, especially that art that deals with the relationship with nature. This could only be the subject of the first exhibition that opens the review Contemporary Miramare».
Naturae. Contemporary art environmentsthis is the title of the exhibition, focuses in particular on the ways in which art can become a place of contemplation and introspection and become a tool for rediscovering the wonders of the natural world. «The works – Melania Rossi, curator of the exhibition, told us – address various themes that investigate the relationship between man and nature, the relationship with the landscape, with the body, with time, metamorphosis, therefore it is not nature in itself and for itself, but it is nature in its relationship with human thought. All artists approach this theme differently due to their research and also due to their imagination, their creativity, their imagination.”
The exhibition, organized by MondoMostre and CoopCulture, is divided into thematic rooms, in which different artists can be found, including Marina Abramovic, Jan Fabre or Hermann Nitsch. The effect is that of a story built in different fragments, which then converge towards a single, multifaceted and articulated narrative. Which also embraces outdoor spaces.
«The exhibition – concluded curator Rossi – also takes place outside, the itinerary from the stables reaches Miramare Castle, in the square, where we have Mimmo Paladino’s great horse Zenith 3 and the work of Bianco-Valente Towards Youin one of the most evocative viewpoints of the castle”. And it is right that the final horizon of the exhibition is the sea, which in front of the castle is wonderful, and which contains an idea of the sublime to which art, like Paladino’s horse, continues to look.
