Ex-Manchester City footballer and anti-Western: Mikheil Kavelashvili appointed as new president of Georgia

The Georgian electoral college has appointed Mikheil Kavelashvili (53) as the country’s new president. Kavelashvili is a former professional footballer who played for Manchester City, among others. Nowadays, however, he is mainly known as a politician who is highly critical of the influence of the West on Georgia.
