The German freestyle relay team led by Isabel Gose reached the final at the Short Course World Championships in Budapest with a German record. There she clearly missed a medal.

In the 4×200 m, Gose and her teammates Julia Mrozinski, Nicole Maier and Nele Schulze couldn’t match their performance from the preliminary heat and came sixth in 7:42.58 minutes. Almost nine seconds were missing for bronze.

Beat the record by almost five seconds

Previously, Vice World Champion Gose and her teammates had improved the previous record from 2018 (7:46.36) by almost five seconds in the preliminary run of 7:41.65 minutes and thus set a German record.

Gose wins silver

The day before, Gose had also won silver in the 800 m freestyle with a German record, thus securing the second German medal in the Hungarian capital after Florian Wellbrock (silver in the 1,500 m). Ole Braunschweig and Marius Kusch qualified for the semi-finals of the 50 m backstroke (5:57 p.m.) in the afternoon session.
