In its resistance, the Province of Drenthe is joining forces with the Province of Groningen and surrounding municipalities such as the municipality of Tynaarlo, Noordenveld, Midden-Groningen and the city of Groningen. Turenhout: “There is no administrative support and you can provide social support, but there is absolutely none.” Because the cabinet will ultimately have to make a decision, Turenhout plans to enter into discussions with northern MPs.
Groningen Airport Eelde itself does not want to respond to the messages from The Hague. It states that it is not a party to the decision-making process. Various local residents’ and interest groups said in July that they feared the impact. When it became known that Groningen Airport Eelde was being investigated as an airport for fighter jets, they expressed concerns about noise nuisance and the harmful effects on nature due to the emissions of the F35s.
