Florian Wirtz is to become the new advertising face for Pepsi in Germany. But the company is actually said to have favored another national player.

They are considered the future of German football: Jamal Musiala from FC Bayern Munich and Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen. The two 21-year-olds are already key figures at their clubs and also in the German national team, get along brilliantly on the pitch in the DFB team and inspire the fans. But off the pitch, the two are already competing for sponsors – only recently one almost outdid the other, before things turned out completely differently.

The “Bayern-Insider” podcast from “Bild” now reports: The soft drink manufacturer Pepsi recently presented Wirtz as its new advertising figurehead in Germany – but Musiala is said to have been the company’s actual target. But the national player rejected the offer.

Musiala focuses on football

The reason: Musiala would have had to commit to three days of filming, each lasting six to eight hours – too much for the Bayern star, who currently wants to concentrate fully on his sporting goals with FC Bayern. Nevertheless, it cannot be ruled out that Musiala will reach an agreement with one or more advertising partners at a later date.

Meanwhile, Wirtz benefits: The advertising deal with Pepsi runs until 2027 and, according to reports, brings him a sum of between 1 and 1.5 million euros – for a total of those three filming dates. The offensive player thus joins the ranks of prominent Pepsi advertising partners, including global stars such as Lionel Messi.
