1/2 The first images of the renovated Aquanura in Efteling

There were many admiring oohs and aahs on Wednesday evening at the Efteling, where the renewed water show Aquanura had its premiere. Everyone in the audience agreed. “Beautiful, much more impressive than the previous show.”

The Aquanura ‘Efteling Symphonica’ show lasts fourteen minutes and includes music from well-known attractions such as Fata Morgana, Baron 1898, Max & Moritz and Danse Macabre.

Four ‘Beacons of Light’ have been placed around the Aquanura pond, impressive eight-meter high lanterns that make the musical time travel come to life with lighting and transformations. “The frogs have also undergone a metamorphosis,” says Jaap den Bleker, director of the fountain show. “Furthermore, nine hundred lamps have been replaced. The video images and screens are also new. We hope this will last us another ten years.”

Fire effects are gone
The fountain spectacle has become a bit more climate-friendly because the fire effects, and therefore the use of propane, have disappeared. “I don’t miss those fireworks at all,” says a visitor. “My little son was always a bit scared of it, so it’s actually a bonus.”

Another man is also watching admiringly. “It’s a magical feeling, and you kind of expect that when you’re in Efteling. We’re in a different world for a moment.” Someone else said: “The show has now been given a modern upgrade and it looks fantastic.”

The director is very satisfied. “Everything is running exactly to size and at exactly the right time,” he concluded on Wednesday.

Aquanura was first shown at Efteling in 2012. The attraction closed last September for major maintenance. In recent months, the new version has been worked on until three o’clock at night.
