Shortly before Christmas there is great excitement at the handball second division team TV Großwallstadt. Because a player from the club is suspected of doping. As part of the investigation, searches were carried out at the accused’s apartment on Tuesday. The responsible public prosecutor’s office in Munich announced this in response to a BR request.

No details on ongoing investigations

According to consistent media reports, it is said to be the 31-year-old captain Nils Kretschmer of the second division team. However, neither the club nor the public prosecutor’s office have confirmed this yet due to the ongoing investigations. A spokeswoman for the public prosecutor’s office simply confirmed that an investigation was being conducted against the accused K. on suspicion of the unauthorized use of a doping substance.

According to the Bild newspaper, the searches took place in Obernburg (district of Miltenberg). This is also where Kretschmer lives. Bild also reports that substances were found, allegedly testosterone in low doses. If the suspicion against Kretschmer were to be confirmed, it would be quite piquant. After all, he is by far the best-known player in the second division handball team. As a handball influencer, Kretschmer has around 416,000 fans on Instagram alone, where he posts about fashion and lifestyle.

The association supports investigations and hopes for a quick clarification

The club did not want to comment on the events and referred to its legal representation. “The Munich public prosecutor’s office is investigating a player from TV Großwallstadt GmbH on suspicion of violating the Antidopine Act and the Medicines Act,” said lawyer Steffen Salvenmoser, explaining that the investigation was not directed against the club, other teammates or other employees. “The TVG will support the investigation and hopes that the allegations will be resolved quickly,” it continued.

When asked by BR whether Nils Kretschmer would be on the pitch against TV Hüttenberg next Sunday (December 15th) in Frankfurt, TVG managing director Michael Spatz did not provide any information.
