Angela de Jong thinks it is a shame that Raven van Dorst uses typical TV tricks to fool her viewers. “It’s lazy. You shouldn’t want this at all.”
It seems incredibly authentic: the program in which Raven van Dorst interviews well-known colleagues on ‘their’ farm in Apeldoorn. They do chores, they cook together and all of that on Raven’s farm. But what happens now? That farm isn’t Raven’s, that cooking is staged, and those chores? The celebrities don’t do that themselves either!
Big deception
The riot around Van Dorst Farm was caused by statements made by Ellen ten Damme, who was recently in the season finale. In the program we see her cutting vegetables and very busy cooking, but in reality, according to her, the catering just came by, but Raven had to put it on the table as if she had cooked herself.
Angela de Jong mentions it in her AD Media Podcast mocking ‘the great deception of Boerderij Van Dorst’. A spokesperson for the broadcaster BnnVara told the podcast: “It has happened twice that people have not cooked because they are either too late or really couldn’t.”
Jobs also fake
What about those jobs that the celebrities have to do at Raven’s farm? Also fakeBnnVara admits. “Celebrities who enjoy this and are handy can indulge themselves and go wild. For celebrities who are less adept at this, there is always production assistance available to give instructions or help with major construction work.”
Manuel Venderbos, who presents the podcast, cynically: “Yes, to finish it when the camera stops rolling.”
Angela disappointed
Angela thinks it’s a shame about Raven. “On the one hand, I always think: yes, guys, this is television, you know that, you are being deceived in front of you and nothing is what it seems. I can’t imagine that there is a single person who thinks that Raven van Dorst actually lives there or thinks she will live there. And yet I think it’s a shame.”
Why then? “That’s the other side. That even she falls for or uses that easy television trick, while I think: you are so authentic, you shouldn’t want that at all. I mean, just show that caterer when he brings the food in, right? Or those pizzas that are delivered…”
Raven has not yet responded to this media riot.
