Coaching advisor Marc Kosicke has defended his client Jürgen Klopp’s transfer to Red Bull. The 57-year-old will work in the cosmos of the brewery company as “Head of Global Soccer” from January 1, 2025 and had to endure a lot of criticism from fans for this. However, negative reactions were clearly taken into account when deciding on the position at the Red Bulls, Kosicke revealed in the “HSV – we have to talk” podcast from “Hamburger Abendblatt“.

“We have always known that there is a part of people who will no longer like you. But as he always says: If you try to please everyone every day, you will fail every day. And he has to find the right job for himself after 25 years on the sidelines. And this somewhat higher-level work on a global level in a sports environment, which offers so many possibilities, is simply exciting again. And that’s why we decided that the consequences should definitely be borne,” said the 53-year-old.

The long-time Dortmund and Liverpool successful coach Klopp spoke about his surprising commitment in the podcast “Einfach mal Luppen” by the brothers Toni and Felix Kroos at the end of October: “It was always clear, well it was clear to me, that I wasn’t going to do nothing. And then the Red Bull story came onto the table. So for me it’s outstanding, I have to say honestly.” His advisor Kosicke, who has accompanied him for almost two decades, picked up the ball and said: “Jürgen has always spoken positively about Red Bull football because he simply really appreciates the work that is done there, because he too “He transferred some players from Salzburg or Leipzig to Liverpool who always fit his playing system perfectly.”

In the past, Klopp has repeatedly been discussed as a possible national coach. So far, however, there has never been any collaboration. Even at the moment it doesn’t look like that at all. “Because Jürgen doesn’t feel like being a coach at all at the moment.” It’s not impossible that this will happen at some point, said Kosicke, who alongside Klopp also includes Bo Svensson (Union Berlin), David Wagner (without a club) and Florian Kohfeldt (SV Darmstadt 98) advises. “Life is dynamic. And if that were to happen, that would certainly be another facet that I wouldn’t reject.”
