The Sports Summit, organized every year by Turkuvaz Media, brings together leaders, experts and sports enthusiasts who make a difference in sports. The summit, where the best of the Super League will be rewarded, started on Tuesday, December 10, at Turkuvaz Media Center.
Minister of Youth and Sports Dr. attended the summit. High-level names such as Osman Aşkın Bak, TFF President İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu, Turkish Volleyball Federation President Mehmet Akif Üstündağ, Turkey A National Football Team Coach Montella, Trabzonspor President Ertuğrul Doğan and Beşiktaş President Hüseyin Yücel attended.
Beşiktaş’s Mete Vardar and Feyyaz Uçar made statements as special guests of the summit. After their speeches, Vardar and Uçar received the Ziraat Turkish Cup Achievement Award on behalf of Beşiktaş.

“WE GOT TWO OF THE THREE CUPS”
After coming here last year, we were behind in terms of points in the league when we arrived. There was a team in particular that was also weakened mentally. The most important goal we set was the Turkish Cup. In this sense, our players, technical staff and community believed in this very much. We made a great effort to get the cup. When a Beşiktaş player puts character on the field, there is no match he cannot win. Fenerbahçe derby is the most important example of this. Winning the Turkish Cup enabled us to go to Europe. This was also very important. It also brought financial income to our club. We responded to our community’s expectations by winning the Turkish Cup. Then we won the Super Cup and won 2 of the 3 trophies. We made great efforts. We are happy and proud of this.
“IT WAS AN UNFORGETTABLE DAY”
There are certain feelings when you go to the match that day and when the team leaves the field, but you cannot predict the score. It was a great game that day. I think the fans made a great contribution to both the Trabzonspor final and the Galatasaray match. He contributed to our team on the field. It was a great match. It was beautiful. It was very enjoyable. If we go back to that day, we say let’s win 5-0 again. Maybe something that won’t happen again for many years. We got great pleasure and happiness from this. We won trophies when we were players and coaches, but it is harder when we are managers. Everything depends on the players and the technical staff’s preparation. All you have to do is watch. I was very excited, maybe it was one of the matches I was most excited about in my life. We fell behind, but we didn’t give up on the game. We won the Turkish Cup with a last minute goal. It would have been a huge problem if we didn’t win. We finished with a trophy. We got the right to play in the Super Cup. Thank you very much everyone. It was very important for us.
“CLEAR RED CARD TO BARIŞ ALPER”
The action against Barış Alper Yılmaz is a clear red card. I don’t understand how the referee made such a decision. It is really incomprehensible that VAR did not give a red card despite calling.
“WHY ARE WE AGAINST FOREIGN REFEREES?”
We would like to see improvement in MHK since the years I have been playing, but there are not many changes. This is a sad situation. We need to change this. This is a completely different topic. This needs to be resolved somehow. I don’t understand why we are so against foreign referees. I think there is no harm in having foreign players, coaches and referees. I think it can be tried. There is serious dissatisfaction. ‘Are you satisfied with the referees?’ If we ask, no one will raise their hand. Everyone has dissatisfaction. Hopefully the referee community will improve itself.
