The break with IJmuiden came unexpectedly. In September 2023, BIZ Centrum, responsible for street lighting, requested a quote for the same, but more extensive lighting as the year before. There was only a response in May 2024: they chose a different party. A hard blow for Timmers, because as usual he had already reserved 2.5 weeks for IJmuiden.
According to Remco, board member of the BIZ Center and owner of Frederik’s chip shop, the state of affairs does not deserve the beauty prize: “The new board has been requesting several quotes for two years. The new batch was several thousand euros cheaper. Unfortunately, communication failed. for which we would like to apologize again. I understand the frustration, but it cannot be changed.”
