Craven Cottage was pulsating when Fulhan set the pace on ten minutes against Arsenal in the London local.
Keeper Bernd Leno the calm attack he had launched changed in an instant by Raul Jimenez as a half-way through. William Saliba was late, and no David Ryan the throw was enough when Jimenez slammed the ball into the bottom corner.
Arsenal had scored no less than 22 goals from corner kicks last season and counting this season. During the week, Manchester United netted twice after Arsenal’s corner.
– We know their strength. Last season and this season we have done well in special situations and we are very focused on those moments, Fulham manager Marco Silva commented to Sky Sports below the match.
– I hope we can do the same.
Arsenal scored from a corner at the start of the second half. Saliba was in the right place after the corner and putted Kai Havertz the continuation from the front of the goal easily into the Fulham net.
A few minutes before the end, Arsenal was already celebrating the winning goal or at least the lead, but the VAR committee intervened in the game. Gabriel Martinelli was offside by a toe.
Fulham’s fightback was rewarded with a point.
For Arsenal, a draw was like a loss. The difference to Liverpool, who are rolling at the top, and have played one match less, is six points.
Fulham is in tenth place, just two points away from the Europa League qualifying spot.
