The more the individual songs are streamed, the more the artists get out of it.
On December 4th the time had come: Spotify “Wrapped” once again gave the annual review of the respective listening habits over the past year. In keeping with this, an agency has now examined how much money the top streaming artists of 2024 could have earned in royalties. Sabrina Carpenter has made the most money since April with her 2024 hit.
“Espresso” brought in the highest amount
Carpenter’s song “Espresso” has been streamed more than 1.6 billion times on Spotify, the Digital PR Agency has found. This meant the artist was able to earn $6,611,117 (equivalent to €6,271,306) in royalties. Her song also debuted at number one on the Billboard Global 200 and topped charts in 20 countries. “Espresso” was also Carpenter’s first ever top ten hit.
Benson Boone, Billie Eilish and Taylor Swift are also there
Following closely behind Carpenter is Benson Boone with “Beautiful Things.” The track, which incidentally went viral on TikTok, also played over 1.6 billion times on Spotify. According to the study, Boone would have to receive income of 6,462,004 US dollars (the equivalent of 6,129,857 euros). Billie Eilish appears in third place with “Birds of a Feather”. The 22-year-old singer achieved more than 1.5 billion streams and royalties amounting to 6,346,212 US dollars (approx. 6,020,017 euros) with her hit.
However, according to the Digital PR Agency, when recording the total number of streams for each song, all views since publication were taken into account. Because some songs were released before 2024. For example, “Cruel Summer” by Taylor Swift. The song was released in 2019 and has since received more than 2.6 billion streams. Since its release, the singer has earned the equivalent of almost 10,933,607 euros with this piece.
