“Nightmare come true”

Last season, German ski racer Sebastian Holzmann showed consistent performances. Now he is seriously injured.
For Sebastian Holzmann, the season ended prematurely – before it had really begun. The German ski racer posted a photo of himself from his hospital bed on Instagram and wrote: “That’s it for 24/25”. He explained that he had woken up from his cruciate ligament operation and then added: “Not a dream, but a nightmare come true. The physical pain is limited, but inside, inside I’m not feeling well at the moment.”
In addition to the photo, Holzmann also shared a video from the training with his fans. You can see him falling. In another photo with crutches he can laugh a little again.
Slalom specialist Holzmann impressed with consistent performances last season and attracted attention with a surprising fifth place at the 2023 World Cup. But the start of the current season was anything but ideal for the Allgäu native. He missed the points in both Levi and Gurgl – and now a serious knee injury is forcing him to take a break.
Despite the difficult situation, Holzmann is combative: “I’m broken right now, but damn it. Giving up is not an option.” The 31-year-old also thanked his loved ones for their support. Ski star Alexander Aamodt Kilde also “liked” the post. The Norwegian had a serious fall in February and has been working since then to get back on the slopes.
