S-bank’s outage affected the electronic services of millions of Finns over the weekend.

S-bank’s service interruption has ended, the bank informs. Services are now operating normally. S-bank’s electronic services had a long outage on Sunday, December 1, which started at 4 am. The outage was previously reported to affect up to 3.3 million Finns.

S bank said in its announcementthat it is not possible to use the online bank and S-mobile during the service interruption. Also, online banking credentials or S-mobile cannot be used for identification in services that require it. The outage also applies to the confirmation of payments made in online shops with S-bank’s cards or accounts.

Instead, paying with S-bank cards and withdrawing and depositing cash worked as normal during the outage.

The reason for the outage was the transfer of Handelsbanken’s personal customer and wealth management and investment services businesses to S-bank. Because of this, customers switching from Handelsbanken should also be prepared for interruptions, which will be announced separately at the address s-pankki.fi/handelsbanken.

Beware of scams

In its announcement, S-bank also warns of scams related to service outages, which refer to the upcoming service outage and ask to update customer information by clicking on the link in the message.

– If you received such a message, it is a scam. Do not open the links contained in the message, but delete the message, the bank instructs.
