Bayern shoots its way to the top – the autumn championship is approaching

On Friday evening, leaders Wolfsburg made a mistake, and the next day FC Bayern immediately used this to jump to the top of the table. But the champions can be overtaken again on Monday.
The FC Bayern footballers have moved to the top of the Bundesliga table with a win in the last game of the first half of the season. Thanks to a 2-0 (1-0) win at SGS Essen, the Munich team took advantage of VfL Wolfsburg’s slip-up, which lost 1-0 to Bayer Leverkusen on Friday evening.
In the table, Bayern is now level with Leverkusen on 26 points, but has the better goal difference. Wolfsburg fell back to third place with 25 points. However, Munich’s top position could only be short-lived: Eintracht Frankfurt (23 points) has the chance to become autumn champions with a win in the game against RB Leipzig on Monday evening.
In front of 3,411 spectators in the stadium on Hafenstrasse, Pernille Harder gave the guests the lead in the 30th minute. Bayern dominated the first half, but came under pressure at times after the break as Essen acted more courageously.
In stoppage time, Georgia Stanway finally completed the victory. The vice world champion scored into an empty goal after a counterattack, as the SGS Essen goalkeeper had previously rushed forward from a free kick.
