Willem II has terminated Valentino Vermeulen’s contract. The 23-year-old defender was linked to the current number 11 of the Eredivisie until the end of this season.
Vermeulen’s departure does not come as a surprise. Trainer Peter Maes returned him to the second team last month ‘due to a difference of opinion’.
Vermeulen started his career at FC Eindhoven and then left for the youth academy of Borussia Dortmund. He opted for a transfer-free departure to Willem II in January 2023.
