Get to know everyday student life

The participants will take various modules from mid-March to mid-July 2025 and gain insights into numerous study programs. “I got to know everyday life at university at LOS. This was very helpful for me because I learned the difference between school and university. We learned how to register for exams, how the learning room works and how to apply for a cafeteria card,” says Louisa Krause about her experiences from the first year of the course Lübeck orientation semester. The 19-year-old has been studying since the winter semester 2024/2025 Civil engineering at the TH Lübeck.

Start your studies relaxed with the LOS

Even those who have already made a choice of course for the winter semester can use the time for intensive preparation. “During the orientation semester, we were able to apply the knowledge we had learned in exams without any pressure to perform and find out whether we could cope with the requirements. We were able to get credit for the exams in the first semester. This makes me much more relaxed in my life Industrial Engineering Started studying at the TH Lübeck,” says 20-year-old Louis Hempel about his experiences from the first year of the Lübeck orientation semester.

Small groups, personal attention

The LOS students receive intensive and personal support thanks to small group sizes. “Since I had been out of the school environment for a long time, I quickly got back into learning thanks to the small group sizes. Personal contact is much more direct in study groups than in a large lecture. At the beginning I had respect for the fact that I could manage the learning load. Checking this in advance was very helpful,” says 33-year-old Fabio Wagener. He is now studying Computer Science at the TH Lübeck.

Actively use the time between leaving school and studying or training

“I already had an offer for a training position, but I was still unsure whether it should be a practically oriented course of study or an apprenticeship. The timing of the LOS was good so that I could be sure of my decision during the bridging period,” says Folke Fischer. After completing the LOS, the 21-year-old decided to train as a mechatronics engineer. I had the feeling that after 13 years of school I wanted to do something practical first. If I want to study after my training, the training can only help me,” adds Folke Fischer.

We would like to support the new LOS students on their journey and tell them about our experiences so far. We are already looking forward to the 2025 vintage!” says Louisa Krause in conclusion.
