Mocha Mousse is the color of the year 2025 according to the Pantone color institute.
This warming brown hue captures the global mood of connection, comfort and harmony, Pantone said Thursday. “Pantone 17-1230 Mocha Mousse” evokes the “delicious qualities” of chocolate and coffee and responds to the desire for comfort.
It’s a “sophisticated and lush, yet unpretentious classic” that expands the perception of brown tones from modest and down-to-earth to sophisticated and luxurious, explains Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute. Mocha Mousse is intended to encourage special moments that promote personal well-being and health – from sweet treats to walks in nature.
A color to eat
“The Pantone Color of the Year 2025 is a soft brown shade whose inherent richness and sensory and soothing warmth further enhances our desire for comfort and the enjoyment of simple pleasures that we can give and share with others,” said Laurie Pressman Vice President at the Pantone Color Institute.
Mocha Mousse replaces Peach Fuzz – a velvety, delicate peach tone that defined 2024 – as the color of the year. Other predecessors include Viva Magenta (2023), Very Peri (2022), Ultimate Gray and Illuminating (2021) and Classic Blue (2020).
