News about Whatsapp changes WABetaInfo website says that the popular instant messaging application will stop working next spring on three Apple phones.
According to the site, using Whatsapp on an iPhone will require at least iOS 15.1 from May 5, 2025, which excludes the iPhone 5S, iPhone 6, and iPhone 6 Plus. The latest supported operating system version for these devices is IOS 12.5.7.
At least some of the users affected by the change have already been sent a notification through the application, urging them to update their device to a newer operating system. If a newer update is not available, Whatsapp can no longer be used after the mentioned date, but a newer device must be purchased instead.
At the moment, Whatsapp still works on IOS 12 and later.
iPhone 6 and 6 Plus are according to statistics the best-selling iPhones of all time. Models released ten years ago have sold a total of more than 220 million units, which puts the duo in third place on the list of best-selling mobile phone models in history. Above are only Nokia’s 1100 and 1110, each of which has sold approximately 250 million units.
