Eva Jinek has had quite a tough week when it comes to the scores of her talk show on NPO 1, says ratings authority Tina Nijkamp. “She better stop doing one thing.”

It was not a very good week for Eva Jinek’s talk show in the evening of NPO 1, says Tina Nijkamp. She has been scoring well below 900 thousand viewers all week and last night she did not even get further than 794 thousand viewers. “Eva Jinek has had a tough week,” the ratings authority concludes.

Not used to it

Eva did well yesterday in the commercial target group — 20 percent market share — but that was certainly not the case all week. “She has not had a best week in the 25 to 54 target group either, scoring 14 percent on Wednesday, for example. For Eva, that’s just a matter of time… Yes, she’s not used to that.”

NPO 1 is the country’s most watched channel and Eva is now more used to it. “She is of course used to scores close to or above a million, so this week was a bit of a miss in terms of viewing figures. On the other hand, Eva’s biggest competitor at that time, RTL Boulevard, scored like a charm, and RTL News is also doing very well.”

Too much culture

How does Tina say? “It was a really bad week for Eva and why? She does too much culture. One of its pillars is culture, but now it is a lot. She had a whole book item, a whole theater item. It’s very much about art and culture and people’s performances.”

“A lot of people also give reviews or talk about their upcoming performance in the Ziggo Dome, for example. People of course have no feeling about that, because they have never been there at all. That’s just like with film programs. They never scored either.”

Nobody’s watching

There is too little urgency, says Tina. “We know René Mioch as a film expert, but his programs never scored at all. They were always put away in the afternoon because no one wanted to look at them. That’s because a lot of people when they see a review of films and cabarets think: yes, what is this about? People have no feeling about it.”

“I think Eva is doing well – she scores better than Khalid & Sophie – but I would say: do a little less culture, because that will set you back again. In any case, the viewing figures are not going in the right direction.”
