The fatal stabbing in a house on Dotterbloem in Boekel on Wednesday is a family tragedy. The police confirmed this on Friday afternoon. On Wednesday, a 12-year-old boy was stabbed to death in the house by his mother (42). The woman’s 10-year-old daughter was seriously injured. She is in danger, the police report.
The mother died after the stabbing when she crashed into a truck in Wilbertoord. The police said on Wednesday they were investigating both the accident and the stabbing, but had not yet discussed a possible link between the two incidents.
Stabbing and accident
At a quarter to one Wednesday afternoon, the first report came in of a serious accident on Noordstraat in Wilbertoord. A car and a truck collided there. An air ambulance was called for the driver of the car, but assistance was of no avail.
The driver, the mother of the children, died. The truck driver was uninjured. He told his story later that day at Omroep Brabant: “She was driving on her own side of the road and suddenly she steered fully in my direction. I was terrified and slammed on the brakes.”
More than an hour after the accident, just after two o’clock, the police were called to a stabbing at the Dotterbloem in Boekel. Two young victims, children aged ten and twelve, were found in the house.
One of them turned out to have died, the other child turned out to be seriously injured. It quickly became clear that the two cases had something to do with each other. Now police confirm that the children’s mother died in the accident and that the two children were stabbed by her.
