“It’s good for the team”

Adam Dzwigala has been under contract with FC St. Pauli since December 2020 and is therefore the longest-serving professional at the leaders of the 2nd Bundesliga. Because the 28-year-old central defender from Poland’s working paper expires in the summer, a decision regarding his sporting future will soon be made. And because Dzwigala is usually reliable, he could apparently continue at Millerntor beyond the summer.
Like that “Hamburger Abendblatt“ reports that talks about an extension will begin soon. A continuation of the collaboration is unlikely to fail due to the club’s will. “Adam is good for the team and regularly underlines his importance. Of course, with a player like that, we can very well imagine having him in the team in the next few years, if he wants to, of course,” sports director Andreas Bornemann is quoted as saying.
Dzwigala came to St. Pauli over three years ago as a professional without a club to strengthen the defense. The Warsaw native had previously played for Desportivo Aves in Portugal. In the current season, Dzwigala made ten appearances in the league and cup for just 362 minutes. The right-footer was represented three times in the starting line-up. Last matchday, Dzwigala came on as an early substitute for the injured defense chief Eric Smith (27) in the 3-1 away defeat against FC Schalke 04. In addition to Dzwigala’s contract, the working paper of top performer Marcel Hartel (28) also ends.
