For the first time in the club’s 54 years of history, the women of FC Bayern Munich will receive a jersey designed exclusively for them. On March 16th we face RB Leipzig. Then the players will wear the new jersey for the first time. The shirt will also be launched for fans on International Women’s Day on March 8th.
It was designed by model Lena Gercke. The designer says: “I am super proud and grateful to be part of this long overdue milestone.” Bayern player Linda Dallmann is quoted as saying in a statement from the club: “We are pleased to be playing in a jersey designed specifically for us for the first time in the history of FC Bayern. This shows the growing importance of women’s football. It would be nice “We hope to see as many of our fans as possible wearing this jersey in the stadium soon.”
Bianca Rech, the head of the FC Bayern women’s department, is also pleased about the step. She says: “It’s another groundbreaking day in the history of FC Bayern Women. A big thank you to everyone involved who developed this absolutely unique piece.”
Bundesliga campaign for International Women’s Day
In addition to the FC Bayern women’s jersey, there is another special feature on International Women’s Day: Under the motto “A matchday for everyone”, the women’s Bundesliga will be opened to the general public next weekend. All six live broadcasts of the 15th matchday can be followed free of charge.
The Munich women have to prove themselves to Eintracht on Saturday (from 1 p.m.). The women from Hoffenheim face 1. FC Nürnberg (from 3 p.m.). Cologne and Bremen will play against each other on Sunday (from 2 p.m.). Just like Freiburg and Leverkusen (from 6.30 p.m.). The Wolfsburg women host RB Leipzig on Monday (from 7.30 p.m.).
