The NHL transfer window closes on Friday, March 8. at 22:00 Finnish time. Iltalehti listed the market’s hottest names and teams.
Elias Lindholm (Vancouver Canucks), Chris Tanev (Dallas Stars) and Sean Monahan (Winnipeg Jets).
Like last year, the NHL’s most coveted available players changed their address well before the transfer deadline, but there are still big players available.
Hottest Players:
1. Noah Hanifin, 27, defenseman, Calgary, $4.95 million, contract expires in 2024
An excellent all-around defender sneaks into the Top 4 deck of almost any team. Hanifin has a clause in his contract that prevents the man from being traded to eight pre-agreed teams. Tampa Bay is looking for a replacement to Mikhail Sergatsov…

2. Jacob Markström, 34, goalkeeper, Calgary, 6 million, the contract ends in 2026
The Swedish keeper has in his contract full no-movement clause i.e. he cannot be traded anywhere without the player’s own consent. The trade has been discussed with the New Jersey Devils for a long time without results. Carolina is also looking for a reliable purse.
3. Jake Guentzel, 29, winger, Pittsburgh, 6 million, contract expires in 2024
The star striker would be useful in the iron city’s playoff hunt, but since the Penguins’ pitcher’s party seems unlikely, Guentzel should put on some weight now. In Laituri’s contract, there is a list of 12 teams to which he cannot be traded.

4. Adam Henrique, 34, center, Anaheim, $5.825 million, contract expires in 2024
When Lindholm and Monahan changed scenery, Henrique became the hottest center name on the transfer market. However, it says more about the tightness of the market than about Henrique. Konkari would be a good three center contender-level team. Henrique’s contract also has a list of ten teams to which he cannot be traded.
5. Vladimir Tarasenko, 32, winger, Ottawa, 5 million, contract expires in 2024
The Russian is in the same situation as last year: he wants to move to a club looking for a pitcher. Tarasenko’s contract has a clause preventing a transfer, so he decides whether to leave or not. If the departure comes, Ottawa will likely have to pay part of Tarasenko’s salary. A usable block for the top team’s second chain.

6. Sean Walker, 29, defenseman, Philadelphia, $2.65 million, contract expires in 2024
Walker has been an important piece in Philadelphia’s surprising playoff chase. The man is still for sale, because there is no further deal and there is no question about the championship train. There would now be a kit that moves the puck very well for the two or three pair of a bunch that is aiming for the ball.
7. Jakob Chychrun, 25, defenseman, Ottawa, $4.6 million, contract expires in 2025
Chychrun is one of the biggest topics of the transfer window year after year. Last year, the man finally moved, but the result in Ottawa has been disappointing. Leaks inside like a sieve, but at the attacking end, a reasonable result comes quite cheaply. Chychrun’s deal has a list of ten teams to which he cannot be transferred.
8. Jordan Eberle, 33, winger, Seattle, $5.5 million, contract expires in 2024
Seattle is still in the playoff hunt, but Eberle’s name is still floating around in transfer rumors. However, the experienced striker’s contract prevents him from being traded to 16 different teams. A usable player for the second chain and for superiority.
9. Jason Zucker, 32, winger, Arizona, $5.1 million, contract expires in 2024
Arizona is riding a 13-match losing streak, so the club has pulled up sales pants. Zucker will leave the club for free next summer if he cannot be traded now. Zucker would bring experience to the middle chains of top teams, but Arizona will likely have to keep some of the guy’s hefty salary.
Also in transfer rumors: Scott Laughton (Philadelphia), Anthony Mantha (Washington), Pavel Butšnevič (St. Louis), Anthony Duclair (San Jose), Jake Allen (Montreal), Matt Dumba (Arizona) and Tyson Barrie (Nashville).
The toughest Finns:
1. Juuse Saros, 28, goalkeeper, Nashville, 5 million, contract expires in 2025
According to Nashville, Saros is not for sale because the team is fighting for a playoff spot. The Finn’s name is still constantly on everyone’s lips. The top goalkeeper’s season has been statistically average, but thanks to his old merits, Saros is the most sought-after goalkeeper on the transfer market.

2. Mikael Granlund, 32, center, San Jose, 5 million, contract expires in 2025
Granlund has returned to his top level, and the man’s playing time average (20.34) is higher than ever in his NHL career. But is he still worth five million dollars? Many think not. If there is room in the salary cap, you can get a reliable, experienced and versatile player in the middle chains from Granlund.

3. Kaapo Kähkönen, 27, goalkeeper, San Jose, 2.75 million, contract expires in 2024
Although San Jose is plowing through the entire series in the bottom mud, Kähkönen’s statistics are good and the salary is moderate. On paper, at least, he would be an excellent backup goalkeeper for many top teams. At least Carolina, New Jersey and Colorado have been linked to the man.
4. Kaapo Kakko, 22, winger, New York Rangers, 2.1 million, RFA 2024
The Turku native has been involved in transfer rumors for a couple of years. He has been profiled as a reliable but ineffective middle chain player. The Rangers need a player who makes a number result in exchange for the pitcher hunt. The Finn will become a restricted free agent next summer.
5. Rasmus Ristolainen, 29, defender, Philadelphia, 5.1 million, contract expires in 2027
The strong Turku pack has played an excellent season in the light of advanced statistics shutdown-in his role. The displays were so strong that Ristolainen, who raises a huge salary, even ended up in transfer rumors, but due to an upper body injury in early February, the Finn is unlikely to change scenery again this season.
The most interesting teams
Florida Panthers
Perhaps the biggest champion favorite. The salary cap is almost five million dollars away. GM Bill Zito it’s less common to stand straight at the transfer border, but you shouldn’t expect big, team-changing deals. There would be room for one Top 9 attacker.
Carolina Hurricanes
The championship-seeking bunch has been looking for a new second center and a goalkeeper who would remain intact for years. The hunt still continues. Quality goalkeepers would be available in the form of Saros and Markström, but it is difficult to find a suitable second center.
Toronto Maple Leafs
Toronto has a goaltending problem. This phrase has been repeated since Curtis Joseph left the club more than 20 years ago. It is not worth waiting with bated breath for a solution to the problem this spring either. Quality packages would also have an order in Toronto.
Tampa Bay Lightning
GM Julien BriseBois has often made small play moves to the depth department at the transfer back end. Tampa is not the biggest favorites of the pitcher hunt now, but it would be special if the team didn’t still try to strengthen its narrow package stock with quality salmon.
New Jersey Devils
The Devils are often the better team in terms of play, but due to the abysmal goalkeeper play, the playoff spot is tight. Markström and Saros in binoculars. All in -level effort is hardly seen, because the best days of the young team are ahead.
Pittsburgh Penguins
Sidney Crosby, Yevgeny Malkin and Kris Letang’s the last dance is about to end, thanks to the miserable superiority. Erik Karlsson was an empty lot. Will GM try Kyle Dubas still strengthens the team or does he trade Guentzel and by Reilly Smith?
Calgary Flames
GM Craig Conroy pulled on the sales pants well in advance. Lindholm left for Vancouver and Tanev for Dallas. Markström and Hanifin are next on the trigger.
Philadelphia Flyers
While Philly is fighting for a playoff spot to the surprise of many, the team is willing to sell anyone. The players have also been told about it. The Flyers should invest in the future now, because this group won’t make it far in the playoffs.
Vegas Golden Knights
Skipper Mark Stone coincidentally got injured again just before the transfer deadline, which could add 9.5 million more space to Vegas’ salary cap. It would be surprising if the reigning champion didn’t try to patch up his dock division with, say, Guentzel.
Colorado Avalanche
Colorado has been searching for a No. 2 center ever since Nazem Kadri left after the championship for Calgary in the summer of 2022. The search is still going on, if Mikko from Ranta not transferred to center. There would also be a need for a reliable second goalkeeper, such as Kähkönen.
