Residual waste has fallen by 40 percent and sweeping waste at open city events by 60 percent. At closed festivals, the total waste per visitor has fallen by as much as 63 percent. The public waste company OVAM announced this on Friday. It is a positive consequence of the obligation introduced in June 2023 to only use reusable materials when serving drinks at events in Flanders.
