Icelander who won the World’s Strongest Man competition in 2018 Hafthor Björnsson35, is making a comeback to strongman competitions.
Björnsson’s name appears in the list of participants of the Arnold Strongman Classic competition, which will be held at the beginning of March. Björnsson won that competition three times in a row in 2018–20.
Since then, the man left strongman competitions and, among other things, visited another ex-powerman in the boxing ring by Eddie Hall with in March 2022.
Before his break from strongman competitions, Björnsson weighed over 200 kilos, but he lost up to 50 kilos for boxing.
In order to succeed in powerlifting, the over two-meter tall Icelander has again started eating and working out on the job. In his most recent Instagram update, he says that he weighs 195 kilos and calls his body “father body”.

Björnsson has said that he eats up to around 8,000 kilocalories a day again. For breakfast, he eats three eggs, chicken broth, 550 grams of cooked rice, 100 grams of strawberries, half a liter of milk and a smoothie with orange juice, skyr and blueberries.
At lunch, a man eats a 110-gram steak, 100 grams of vegetables, 450 grams of rice and an avocado.
Björnsson is also remembered for his deadlift record of 501 kilograms, which he set in 2020. At that time, Björnsson broke Eddie Hall’s world record by one kilogram.
In February, Björnsson shared a video with his followers in which he did sets of three repetitions of the deadlift with 400 kilograms. He had a longer than usual pole, the so-called elephant pole.
The Icelander is also remembered for the highly popular Game of Thrones TV series, where he played the character of Gregor Clegane.
