In the fraud case against Czech tennis boss Ivo Kaderka, a Prague district court has ordered police custody for the official.
The measure is intended to prevent Kaderka from influencing witnesses until the trial begins. The president of the national association for 26 years, who also became the head of the European tennis umbrella organization in 2020, is said to have diverted large sums of government money for Czech tennis to companies owned by former Czech professional Vojtech Flegl.
The Czech Republic’s former Davis Cup player Daniel Vacek is apparently also involved in the scandal. The winner of three doubles titles at Grand Slam tournaments, along with Kaderka and Flegl, is one of a total of five defendants in the case, in which the authorities are also investigating five companies.
