Aerial images show that it has never been so wet in the dunes

Nowhere are the traces of the abundant rain as clearly visible as in the dunes. The Zuid-Kennemerland National Park, roughly the area between Haarlem and the coast, is almost unrecognizable.

The good news is: the abundance of water does not pose a threat to nature. The dunes are highly resistant to extremes. The bad news is that visitors choose their own path due to closed cycle and walking paths. Birds will suffer from this, especially during the breeding season. That’s why a cry from the heart from ranger Walter Oosterom of PWN: “Let’s adapt a little, we’re just visiting.”

Watch below for aerial images of the water in the dunes and walkers and cyclists trying to find their way there.
