For months there was speculation as to whether Ryan Gosling would perform his Oscar-nominated song “I’m Just Ken.” Academy Awards would perform live for the first time. At the beginning of February, the actor explained that he had not yet been asked whether he could sing on site. Now this question seems to have been answered and it is clear – yes, he is performing the track live.
A big risk?
According to Variety, an inside source has confirmed that the 43-year-old will be on stage at the 96th Academy Awards. However, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has not yet commented publicly on this.
Ryan Gosling previously spoke in a “Variety” interview about how unsure he was about whether and, if so, how a live performance would even be possible: “It might be too big a risk to let me do that. I don’t know how that would work. But I’m open to it.”

A wish comes true for Mark Ronson
Not only had he stated that he wouldn’t rule out a performance, Mark Ronson, the producer of the track “I’m Just Ken,” also revealed that it would be his dream for Gosling to perform at the awards ceremony. However, there would have been no replacement for him if the Ken actor had decided against a live performance: “If Ryan doesn’t do it, then we won’t do it,” he replied in the interview.
