Gregor Kobel from Borussia Dortmund is reportedly very popular with Paris Saint-Germain. However, BVB probably doesn’t have to worry about a possible move of the goalkeeper to the French champions.
According to “Sky”, a transfer to PSG is currently “not an issue” for Kobel. At the same time, the TV station confirms a corresponding report from “L’Équipe”, according to which the keeper has come into the spotlight in Paris.
There is said to have been a “loose contact” from the Ligue 1 table leader to the players’ side, reports “Sky”. PSG are reportedly unhappy with Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Gregor Kobel tied to BVB until 2028
Kobel still has a long-term contract with Borussia Dortmund until June 30, 2028. According to media reports, the working paper does not contain an exit clause. BVB therefore has more leverage anyway.
Kobel moved from VfB Stuttgart to Westphalia in the Bundesliga in the summer of 2021. At BVB, the Swiss quickly developed into one of the best goalkeepers in German football’s upper house.
Interest from the Premier League?
According to “Sky”, Manchester United, Chelsea FC and Tottenham Hotspur have shown interest in Kobel in the past, but he remains loyal to BVB.
“Gregor has developed into a world-class goalkeeper in Dortmund who has aroused the interest of many top clubs in Europe. We are proud that we were able to inspire him for a future at BVB despite all his options,” said sports director Sebastian Kehl said in the course of the extension in October 2023.
Kobel was recently missing from Dortmund in the Champions League against PSV Eindhoven (1:1) and in the Bundesliga against TSG Hoffenheim (2:3) due to muscular problems. Deputy Alexander Meyer looked after the Dortmund goal instead.
