Windsurfing star Lilian de Geus has decided to end her top sports career, she reports via Team Allianz. She won the world title three times in the ‘old’ Olympic sailing class RS:X. At the 2016 Rio Olympics, she finished fourth and fell 1 point short of bronze. She finished fifth at the 2021 Tokyo Games.
De Geus (32) has made her decision after her failed campaign to qualify for the Paris Games in foiling, the new Olympic class. She lost the national qualifying match to Sara Wennekes.
Knutsen expects a tough match against Ajax on Thursday evening. “It is a team with a clear playing style and many good football players,” the Norwegian said at the press conference on Wednesday. “It is an attacking team with an attacking image, so I don’t think there will be any big differences from the first leg in Amsterdam. Maybe they will be a bit more careful and focus on counter-attacks.”
