Maxime Meiland has been charged with defamation: the man she accuses of rape in her biography says she is very bothered by her accusations. Who exactly the man is and what the man looks like is not known to the general public, but that could change very quickly. He himself was present at the hearing last week, as were many media.

Blurred ‘rapist’

Paparazzi have captured the alleged Maxime rapist on camera and that must feel very unpleasant, according to criminal lawyer Clarice Stenger. His photo is now in all kinds of databases and can be pulled out at any time. This week there is one gossip magazine that puts him on the cover, namely Privé.

‘HORROR AFTERNOON’, reads the headline in Evert Santegoeds’ magazine above the photo of Maxime and her ‘rapist’, whose face is blurred. “MAXIME sees her ‘RAPIST’ from two meters away.”

‘We knew it’

Evert puts in one Telegraph video shows that a conscious decision was made to blur the man. “We knew what he looked like, of course, because he gave us an interview. Then he had to be photographed from the back. Now we saw him walking open and naked on the street, but yes, I find that a bit complicated.”

He continues: “If he cares so much about remaining unknown – that is actually the point of this lawsuit – then I am not going to put him openly on the cover. But there were some considerations that preceded this…”

Angry lawyer

The Private Boss fills in his podcast indicates that in retrospect he is very happy with this choice. “We didn’t do it and that’s a good thing, because yesterday a letter suddenly arrived from his lawyer saying that if we had done that, the turnips would have been cooked.”

How does Maxime’s biographer Jan Dijkgraaf think the man happened? He says in the Weekend: “There was someone with neatly combed hair and neat clothes. (…) Maybe he has improved his life. But what he is like now still says nothing about what he was like thirteen years ago.”
