It is unprecedented: Royce de Vries has managed to ensure that AD, and all other DPG Media titles, are no longer allowed to write a word about the cesspool he sits on top of with his buddy Khalid Kasem. Dad Peter R. de Vries has secretly taped all kinds of colleagues, including Khalid, and those recordings are very incriminating.

Khalid more or less says on those tapes that he bribed an official during his time as a lawyer and that does not really fit with the norms and values of BNNVARA. So we will never see them again at Khalid & Sophie. But there’s more to those tapes. Something even more shocking. And Royce got the judge to silence the AD…
According to communications expert Lars Duursma, who is on top of this case, people in Hilversum have known for a long time what this is about. It may have something to do with top criminal Ridhouan Taghi, with whom Khalid went to school. The presenter has always denied that he leaked information to him, but he may say something different on those tapes.
100,000 euros
The AD has appealed against the judge’s decision and the hearing was yesterday. There, AD lawyer Olaf Trojan revealed that all DPG titles are no longer allowed to say anything about the case under penalty of a penalty of 100,000 euros (!) per article. “These are excessively high amounts.”
Critics say they are Russian scenes. “The AD and all other DPG Media titles are being silenced in a way that has never been seen before in the Netherlands,” says Olaf.

Half of the Dutch media landscape is in the hands of DPG, but why do we read little about Khalid in other media?
Cees Nierop, lawyer for the journalists’ union NVJ, says: “Not only journalists who belong to DPG feel silenced about this issue, the entire profession does not or hardly dare to focus on the Kasem issue, out of fear of being in the same hornet’s nest. end up as a DPG.”

Opinion maker Iris van Lunenburg finds this very bad, she says Show news. “Why don’t other media pick it up? It is a deterrent and they may not dare to do it, otherwise they would be sued. I find this really shocking for press freedom.”
It is also striking how little attention RTL Boulevard pays to this issue. The program always has a lengthy crime item after the first commercial break, but what was it used for yesterday? Something about drugs. And friend of the show Royce who wants to silence the press? It was tucked away in the short news section…
