The Prada Group is increasing its sustainable efforts in the fashion industry.
By joining the ‘Fashion Task Force’, a subgroup of the ‘Sustainable Markets’ Initiative (SMI), the Italian company supports the development and acceleration of action-oriented solutions in the global fashion, textile and apparel industries, the Prada Group announced on Monday with.
An initiative launched by Britain’s King Charles III in 2020, the SMI aims to promote a more balanced economy in which industry replenishes resources used in its production processes. The subsidiary ‘Fashion Task Force’ is chaired by technology entrepreneur and founder of Italian online fashion retailer Yoox Net-a-Porter Group SpA, Federico Marchetti.
“We are honored to be part of this coalition and share our experience in traceability with others,” said Lorenzo Bertelli, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility at Prada Group. “Building on everyone’s valuable expertise and seeking to achieve common sustainability goals is a productive way to deal with today’s complexities and continually improve.”
The initiative’s members include the British fashion group Burberry Group Plc, the Italian fashion house Giorgio Armani and the Spanish fashion and cosmetics group Puig SL. In its portfolio, the Fashion Force Task can already boast projects such as the presentation of the ‘Digital Passport’ at the G20 Summit 2021, which uses data to inform customers about the sustainability credentials of their purchases. This technology also offers manufacturers, brands and retailers a new level of transparency and traceability for the products they offer.
