I wonder if what we take for news is news or substitutes for news news. I watch the news one more day and I feel the same as when I drink a decaffeinated coffee instead of a natural one, or a piece of toast spread with margarine instead of butter. The difference is that I choose the coffee or margarine, while they choose the supposed news.. Who are they? Given that most of the information pie goes to politicians, it would not be unreasonable to say that they were the suppliers, in the same way that the bread supplier is the baker. Imagine them gathered in their headquarters (the politicians, not the bakers):
