End of first half
The score is still 0-0 halfway through in De Kuip, where the odds ratio is 16-4 (7-1 on goal) in favor of Feyenoord. RKC goalkeeper Etienne Vaessen was shown a red card after 35 minutes because he lightly touched the ball with his arm outside his goal area.
Feyenoord had the best chance in the fifth minute, but RKC defender Dario van den Buijs saved the shot with his head. Santiago Giménez then very cleverly off the line.

David Min misses a great chance to score 0-1
Halfway through extra time, there is suddenly another great opportunity for RKC after a quick counter from the visitors. Chris-Emmanuel Lokesa has started on the right and hands the ball at the right time to the well-run striker David Min, but he does not hit the ball well at all and his shot bounces wide of Timon Wellenreuther’s goal. Feyenoord is doing well there just before half time..
45′
Six minutes of extra time
Six more minutes are added at the end of the first half, especially because the VAR just needed quite some time to determine whether Etienne Vaessen had actually made hands. Referee Martin van den Kerkhof’s decision ultimately stood, after which Vaessen also hesitated a lot when leaving the field by calmly crossing twice.
40′
Free kick from David Hancko over
What still stands is of course the free kick for Feyenoord 18 meters from the goal, slightly to the right of RKC’s goal. David Hancko stands behind the ball, but his free kick goes over the goal by more than a meter. Jeroen Houwen does not have to take immediate action, but can catch his breath and take a kick.
39′
Denilho Cleonise is replaced by Jeroen Houwen
After the red card for Etienne Vaessen, Henk Fraser obviously has to bring on his second goalkeeper. The fast attacker Denilho Cleonise is the child of the bill.

VAR: Red card confirmed
Yes, the VAR decides to stick with Martin van den Kerkhof’s decision. RKC goalkeeper Etienne Vaessen gets a red card after a questionable handball, because it was not entirely clear from the images whether the ball actually hit his arm or his side.
35′
Yellow card for Dario van den Buijs
In the fanatical protests of RKC, there is also a yellow card for the Belgian defender of RKC, who saved a ball from the line in the fifth minute.
35′
Red card for Etienne Vaessen
Red for Etienne Vaessen. The RKC goalkeeper again comes far from his goal, but now Calvin Stengs reaches the ball earlier and shoots the ball against Vaessen’s arm. Martin van den Kerkhof immediately shows red, but VAR Rob Dieperink will take a closer look at the images to see whether there was really a handball.
17:18
Etienne Vaessen brings salvation
Another nice save from Etienne Vaessen. The RKC keeper stops a hard header after a corner kick from Feyenoord.
A odds ratio of 10-2 (5-1 on target) after half an hour of play in De Kuip.
30′
Mats Wieffer brings the ball nicely in front of the goal
After half an hour, Feyenoord comes back in front of RKC’s goal. After a good running action, Mats Wieffer slides the ball nicely in front of the goal, but Luka Ivanusec reacts a little too slowly and then the chance is already gone.
26′
Etienne Vaessen plays with fire
Well, that’s where Etienne Vaessen is playing with fire. The RKC goalkeeper comes outside the penalty area, but gets to the ball just in time before Calvin Stengs has it. Nothing to worry about, just keep playing.
25′
Calvin Stengs’ corner has already crossed the back line
A corner kick for Feyenoord, but Calvin Stengs curls the ball a little too much and so the referee immediately whistles for a back ball after RKC captain Etienne Vaessen has punched the ball away.
23′
Yellow card for Julian Lelieveld
22′
Big tap on the ankle from Santiago Giménez
Santiago Giménez drops down from the striker and gives a good bounce, but then gets a big tap on his ankle. Everyone in De Kuip breathes a sigh of relief when the Mexican striker quickly gets back on his feet.
Quilindschy Hartman then passes the ball, but too low and therefore Feyenoord doesn’t get a chance. However, the home team is on the attack again for a few minutes, to the delight of the Legion, which for the time being mainly enjoys singing.
20′
Denilho Cleonise lashes out
Denilho Cleonise had just lost his shoe, but has now put it back on and is taking a swing. Timon Wellenreuther can save the day, but Arne Slot will not be completely satisfied with the past ten minutes in which Feyenoord showed very little.
5′
Dario Van den Buijs takes the ball off the line
Wow, what an action Dario Van den Buijs! The 28-year-old Belgian prevented a quick 1-0 for Feyenoord by heading the ball away just before the line.
The RKC defender does this after a hard shot from Santiago Giménez, who can strike with the right after preparatory work by Yankuba Minteh and Luka Ivanusec. The Croatian subtly taps the ball just in front of the goal, where he could have shot himself.

First half kicked off
We started in De Kuip, where the rain is pouring down. Can the spectators be warmed up with a nice game of football?
Feyenoord will play against AS Roma again on Thursday, but Arne Slot will undoubtedly have insisted in the dressing room that second place can as good as be secured. FC Twente lost 0-1 to FC Utrecht earlier today and so Feyenoord can put the number three in the Premier League on eight points.
4:30 PM
Position in advance
After the 0-1 defeat of FC Twente against FC Utrech and Ajax’s 2-2 draw against NEC this is now the score at the top of the Eredivisie:

2. Feyenoord 21 – 49 points
3. FC Twente 22 – 44 points
4. AZ 22 – 39 points
5. Ajax 22 – 36 points

Another fifteen minutes
Another fifteen minutes until kick-off in the Kuip, where a large number of the supporters are standing/sitting in the rain. It will soon be up to the players to give the 45,000 spectators a nice Sunday despite the bad weather.
15:44
Geertruida and Timber also back in the starting line-up
Lutsharel Geertruida, Santiago Giménez and Quinten Timber return to Feyenoord’s starting line-up for the home game against RKC Waalwijk. The trio will kick off in De Kuip at 4.45 pm.
Giménez was only able to come on as a substitute against AS Roma (1-1) on Thursday due to minor calf complaints, when Ayase Ueda started as striker. Timber had not yet recovered sufficiently from a concussion to play against the Italians and Geertruida had the flu.
Luka Ivanušec also has a starting place at Feyenoord. The Croat is preferred to Igor Paixão, who scored the only goal against AS Roma.
Feyenoord wants to take advantage of the defeat that FC Twente suffered against FC Utrecht earlier on Sunday. The number two in the rankings can increase the lead over third-placed FC Twente to eight points. FC Twente lost 0-1 to FC Utrecht earlier today.
