André van Duin and Janny van der Heijden have become a popular TV duo on television, but they appear not to meet each other in private. “Not even on birthdays.”
Their collaboration in Heel Holland Bakt has led to a real TV duo: André van Duin and Janny van der Heijden are achieving considerable viewing success together. The chemistry jumps off the screen, but what about when the cameras are off? Then they also have fun, but that’s about it. They do not see each other in private.
No friendship
Actually, that TV duo came about somewhat organically, André explains in the Party. “Janny and I have now become a kind of Mr and Mrs De Bok, something that has just grown. It was also not planned that other programs would be added, sailing the boat and recently Thinking About Switzerland.”
How does that work outside of the recordings? “No, we don’t come to each other’s houses and we don’t hang out much in private. That just doesn’t happen. Janny and I really see each other on the road, such as at premieres, and when sailing on the boat and at Heel Holland Bakt we see each other a lot.”
For eight weeks
It’s fun on set and that’s about it, says André. “It takes us eight weeks to record an entire season of Heel Holland Bakt. There are two shooting days every week and those are two very enjoyable days.”
The viewing figures make him very satisfied. “No, you don’t get used to that. I was surprised again. We had 2.2 million viewers for the first episode of the eighth season without delayed viewing. Including delayed viewing, there were just over 2.8 million viewers. (…) People are happy that something is happening on television that does not have to do with war.”
