“Some details are still missing”
Lautaro Martínez continues to work on his legendary status at Inter Milan. The 26-year-old striker scored in the 19th minute in the 4-0 (3-0) win against US Salernitana on Friday evening to make it 2-0. It was his 125th goal for the Nerazzurri, passing his former teammate and fellow Argentine Mauro Icardi (124).
With their sixth win in a row, Inter extended their lead at the top of the table over Juventus to ten points, and Martínez will win their second championship title after 2020/21. The strong phase, both as a team and personally, is to be rounded off with a contract extension. “There are still some details missing, but it will come soon,” said the center forward (quoted via “Football Transfers”) after the game on “DAZN”.
It is planned to extend the working paper, which is currently valid until 2026, by two more years. The most valuable player in Serie A would still have plenty of time to gain further ground in Inter’s list of record goalscorers. Only six players are ahead of Martínez, all of whom have long ended their careers. Since Alessandro Altobelli left the club in 1988, there has been no change in the top six. At the top is Giuseppe Meazza with 284 hits.
