Entrepreneur Joel Harkimo says in a recent Aki Linnanahde talk show in the episode of the podcast about his marriage to Janni Huss.
The couple got married last summer. Both Harkimo and Huss have busy lifestyles. Harkimo works in politics and entrepreneurship and prepares for solo sailing at the same time, while Hussi works as a WRC2 class rally karter in addition to the media industry.
However, Harkimo states in the podcast that the couple leads a completely normal everyday life.
– We rarely go out in front of people, we spend a lot of time in love, I like to cook, take saunas and jog and hang out, Harkimo describes in the episode.
– We are on the go so much all the time, and now especially when Janni is traveling around the world for a rally, the time we have is spent alone together, he continues.
First Christmas
The couple started dating in 2018. After only a few months of dating, Harkimo took Huss to Sipoo to spend a Finnish-Swedish Christmas.
– I remember it so that we had a small communication breakdown. We took Christmas saunas, morning porridge and other basic things. Then, when it was supposed to start preparing for the evening party, I took out a collared shirt and a suit. We have always had it so that when the family gathers at Christmas, everyone dresses up, we read the Christmas gospel and there are quite a lot of traditions. Christmas is a big deal, Harkimo describes.

Hussi was used to not having to wear 1s on Christmas. For this reason, he had prepared to spend Christmas in only sweatpants and a t-shirt.
– Janni panicked because we had been dating for maybe two months. He asked what the hell are you doing and I said I’m going to put on my clothes because we have to be up in half an hour. He said he has nothing like that. He’s wearing sweatpants and a batman shirt because that’s what they wear for Christmas. Jannia was embarrassed like hell.
Harkimo says in the episode that no one in their family was really interested in what kind of clothes Hussi would come to spend Christmas in.
We are not conservative or boring or that someone would have pulled a pea on the nose that someone from Kouvola came here for the Finnish-Swedish Christmas in sweatpants. The gang laughed more that, well, this is it, Harkimo laughs.
Harkimo says that a similar situation happened again with regard to crab parties in 2021.
– It’s my fault when I don’t remember to tell or can’t think, Harkimo concludes.
