The fourth day of Carnival was again a beautiful and cohesive day in our province. Carnival revelers everywhere joined in the festivities. Below is a selection of all events in Brabant.
Massively singing along with Kruikenstad in Koor
At exactly eleven past eight, the Kruikenstad choir sing-along spectacle took off in Kruikenstad (Tilburg). Of course, the Tilburgs Volkslied was the first to be played, after which many classics followed, all of which were belted out just as loudly by the massive crowd. The sing-along spectacle was broadcast live by Roeptoetgat.
Highlights of the Kielegat and Moesland parades
The parades in Kielegat (Breda) and Moesland (Schaijk) were again a pleasure to watch. Watch the highlights here:
Frans has been making hamburgers on the grill for 22 years
Frans van Groesen (67) has been baking hamburgers for 22 years during the parade in Kluiven duikersrijk (Den Hout) for all participants and spectators. Today he set up his hamburger stand for the last time. A carnivalesque anniversary! “I have been saying for five years that I want to quit. Now the time has really come, because it is getting harder and harder,” said the hamburger baker. Will he miss it? “Of course! In my mind I haven’t stopped yet,” says Frans with a wink.
Splendor and splendor in Kluiven duikersrijk
In Kluiven duikersrijk (Den Hout) there were beautiful floats, but many young people also rode on so-called ‘drink floats’ with loud music. Young and old all created a wonderful carnival party.
Jurgen Streppel on the car
Jurgen Streppel, former head coach of Willem II and Roda JC, among others, is Prince of Carnival in Helmond and had a great time.

Birthday prince carnival
Prince ‘Patrick dun Urste’ from Nachtgraversrijk (Overlangel) was able to blow out 54 candles on Monday. His birthday coincided with the parade on Carnival Monday and was therefore celebrated with a mop orchestra and real carnival puffs. The prince received the one and only shout horn as a gift from Roeptoetgat reporter Manon.
Well-known Brabanders celebrate carnival
Presenter and theater producer Albert Verlinde was also present in Oeteldonk, even though he lives in Kneutergat (Cromvoirt). On his Instagram page you can see that he was celebrating carnival with ex-partner Onno Hoes.

Bed race
In Klein Antwerp (Knegsel), ‘Team Brak’ won the traditional bed race on Monday morning. For the first time in ten years, the bed race was held again in Klein Antwerp. The girls of ‘Team Brak’ went home with the honor and a check for 300 euros. What are they going to do with the money? “Getting through the rest of the carnival,” one of the girls said, laughing.
Pastor in his element during carnival service
More than seven hundred people were in the Sint Joseph Church in Tilburg on Monday afternoon for the Jar celebration: the carnival service. And so Pastor Robert van Aken goes extra deep with his brush in the holy water. With visible pleasure he splashes his audience: “Especially during carnival we think of others and act crazy. Do you know how important that is, that you can put things into perspective?”
80-year-old Cobie still celebrates carnival
No matter how old you are: carnival remains fun. This is proven by 80-year-old Cobie Gerritsen from Haaikneuterrijk (Esbeek). She was present at the pajama breakfast on Monday morning, as usual, with grandchildren Kaï and Isabelle. “I enjoy being there every year. In Esbeek everyone knows each other,” the grandmother told Roeptoetgat reporter Noël.
Carnival wedding
Monday started with a true carnival fairytale in Papgat (Sint-Oedenrode). Ronald proposed to his girlfriend Carly three years ago during Omroep Brabant’s carnival program Fijsnisjenie Café. The two are real carnival lovers and soon knew when the wedding would take place. Monday morning the time had finally come. At exactly eleven past eleven they said yes, completely dressed in carnival attire at their carnival club in Papgat.
