The federal government is launching a loan program for affected German companies because of the sanctions against Russia in the Ukraine war. With loans from the state development bank KfW, companies could benefit from the state’s good interest rates, said Economics Minister Robert Habeck (Greens) on Thursday in Berlin. The concept is essentially taken from the corona pandemic. The aim is that companies that suffered damage as a result of the war could develop new business areas. Habeck initially did not name a volume of the program. The plans have not yet been finally agreed in the government, he said.
In general, the economic consequences of the war for German companies are already being felt. He is therefore grateful that all companies fully support the sanctions, although they are heavily burdened. (dpa)
