NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has called on European countries to increase their weapons production. In this way, supplies to Ukraine should be increased and a confrontation with Moscow “that could last decades” should be avoided, Stoltenberg said in the German newspaper ‘Welt am Sonntag’.
“We need to rebuild and accelerate our industry to scale up supplies to Ukraine and replenish our inventories,” Stoltenberg said. “This means that we must move from slow production in peacetime to fast production in times of conflict.”
“There is no imminent threat against any ally. At the same time, threats against NATO member states regularly come from the Kremlin,” Stoltenberg continued.

“Peace not achieved”
The NATO Secretary General referred to the Russian invasion of Ukraine to demonstrate that “peace in Europe has not been achieved” “As long as we continue to invest in our security and remain united, we continue to discourage any aggression.”
“NATO is not looking for war with Russia, but we must prepare for a confrontation that could last decades,” Stoltenberg concluded.
