Her record LIVES OUTGROWN will be released on May 17th and she will perform live in Berlin on June 2nd.
Beth Gibbons has announced a solo album. The title: LIVES OUTGROWN. The ten-song record by the musician best known for Portishead will be released on Friday, May 17th. The first single “Floating On A Moment” can already be heard now.
The Brit will also bring the work, which she says she has been working on for “a decade”, live on stage on June 2, 2024 at Berlin’s Uber Eats Music Hall (currently known as Verti Music Hall).
“You have to be brave”
For Gibbons, LIVES OUTGROWN is a very personal and emotional record, which also represents a new beginning for the 59-year-old. In her new tracks she processes thoughts about motherhood, her fears (around her own mortality) and farewells to friends, family and her former self. She also sees the album as her way of welcoming a new phase (of life). She announced in a press release: “Now that I’ve reached the other end, I just think that you have to be brave.”
Gibbons had already shared some insights and the title – just not officially named as such at the time – via X on February 1st.
Beth Gibbons produced her album herself – together with James Ford and Lee Harris from Talk Talk.
