On loan from Werder Bremen, offensive player Eren Dinkci made his final breakthrough in the Bundesliga this season with promoted team 1. FC Heidenheim. Next Saturday it will be emotional for the attacker, as he returns to “his” Bremen Weserstadion with Heidenheim.
The 22-year-old told “Sport Bild” that there was no doubt that Werder Bremen would continue to be a matter close to his heart.
“I grew up in Bremen, this love for the club will never be lost,” said Dinkci, who made his Bundesliga debut for Werder as a teenager in December 2020.
Until last year, however, he never got beyond the status of a supplementary player for the North Germans. In 2022/2023 he played all 17 of his Bundesliga appearances as a substitute and was not once in coach Ole Werner’s starting line-up during the entire season.
It goes without saying that the Bremen native starts the game against the club with great ambitions, with whom he still has a contract until 2025.
Dinki with special words for Heidenheim coach Schmidt
No final decision has yet been made about his future after the loan deal with tenth-placed Heidenheim, as Dinkci himself explained: “The plan is for me to return to Bremen in the summer. But so far we haven’t talked about the situation. When I should come back “But then I would like to have more playing time than before.”
In Heidenheim, the German-Turk became a regular player straight away and was in head coach Frank Schmidt’s starting lineup 19 times. Dinkci emphasized that he owes a particularly big thank you to his current coach: “He gave me a very good feeling right from the start, I play under him regularly. He helped me find my way back to my strengths, which helped me in the Strong youth and later turned them into professionals.”
By the way: In the first leg against Werder Bremen, the offensive man already scored a brace in Heidenheim’s 4-2 home win on matchday 4.
