Have we possibly already exceeded the limit of 1.5°C of warming? A new study published today in the scientific journal Nature Climate Change indicates yes. The scientists came to that conclusion after analyzing 300 years of ocean temperature measurements preserved in the skeletons of sponges from the Caribbean. This would also mean that global average temperature warming is likely to exceed 2°C by the end of this decade.
