In 2023, 213,873 people turned to the Food Banks for food. The Food Banks have distributed 23,571 tons of food, equivalent to 47 million meals. That is a new record, the Belgian Federation of Food Banks said at a press conference on Friday. The food comes from the European Social Fund (ESF+), supermarkets and the food industry, but in 2023 the Federation will again have to purchase food itself to meet demand.
